On this first day of Autumn, 2009 many of our vineyards are celebrating the end of a successful growing season. In fact most have already harvested their fruit, and are in the process of performing their magic on the juice. While it's likely too late to walk through the vineyards and see the grapes on the vines, it's certainly not too late to visit those locations that have winery facilities, and get a tour and explanation of just what they do.

I"m always impressed at the amount of equipment and the details required to perform such a seemingly simple task. But, as any wine maker will tell you, the details are everything.

In this newsletter you'll find a video interview with Shadow Springs Vineyard, and coincidentally, a tour map of the Swan Creek Vineyards. Our roving correspondent, Cecil T. Wulfe attended a pairing event, and there are a couple of tips that can help you enjoy your wines more fully.

As always, we hope you will pass this newsletter along to anyone you know who enjoys wine, whether they live in the area or not. And if you haven't added your comments to the site, please take advantage of the opportunity, and share your experiences with us.

Happy Autumn!
